Here are some places to help you explore the possibilities. There are many things to consider:

  • your interests and abilities
  • the right high school courses and programs for you
  • what to do after finishing high school (apprenticeship, college, university or work)
  • getting work experience while still in high school

  • the labour market

Toronto Public Library's Career Bookmarks website gives you career descriptions and career videos and much more.

This links to TVOntario, our education station and provides valuable career information, self-assessment quizzes, apprenticeship info, pathways, course descriptions, experiential learning and a description of co-op education.

TV Ontario offers general information about education, training and career options.

The Ontario Prospects 2006 provides recommendations on résumé, cover letters, portfolio and much more. The Canada Prospects 2005-2006 from the "Career Toolbox" section that provides the nuts and bolts to get you from career goal to landed job.

Here are some practical résumé and interview tips from the Halton District School Board's School to Career initiative.

Work Internship programs provide students with opportunities to develop workplace Essential Skills, build a network of career contacts, explore career choices and acquire industry recognized certification while earning credits for their high school diploma.

Ontario Job Futures is a publication which provides information on the current trends and future outlook for 163 occupations common to Ontario. It is a joint effort of the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada.
