Fletcher’s Meadow Secondary School presents at Brampton Creative Economy Summit
Students, staff showcase digital media, animation, robotics and performing arts programs
Students and staff from Fletcher’s Meadow Secondary School will present the work of their Arts and Technology programs at the Brampton Creative Economy Summit on Feb. 2 at the Rose Theatre in Brampton. Students will perform a 50-minute presentation, which includes a 10-minute student produced film, followed by a panel discussion with teachers and students from the arts and technology programs. The summit will bring together leaders in the local arts community, business representatives, politicians, community partners and members of the future creative economy workforce.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for our arts and technology staff and students to showcase the exceptional programming at Fletcher’s Meadow,” says Mary Nanavati, principal at Fletcher’s Meadow. “We’re truly honoured to be participating in this event.”
The summit will promote awareness of the creative economy and Brampton’s role within it. It will also help educate and define the creative economy, and create a networking environment for participants. Jian Ghomeshi, host of “Q” on CBC Radio One, and President and CEO of Artscape, Tim Jones will be keynote speakers at the event. The free summit is part of a five year plan created by the City of Brampton to pursue and promote the development of a creative economy within the city.
