Community Use of Schools

Schools are hubs of the community and a convenient venue for a host of recreational, group and corporate activities. School facilities provide a place to come together, volunteer, build skills, access community programs, become physically active and build strong and healthy communities.

Community groups are encouraged to utilize our spaces.  Currently inquiries about space availability can be made via the ePermits online system or through the Rentals Office.  All applications are processed by the Rentals Office Assistants based on availability, type of function and type of community group.

While secondary school space is limited because of heavy usage, many of our elementary schools are available and well suited for low-intensity sports, tykes sports such as soccer or basketball skills, senior fitness classes, dry-land training, cultural dance groups, fitness activities, club meetings and community gatherings.

Availability - currently there is limited to no availability in all secondary and middle school gyms.

Permits may be booked:

School year - mid-September to mid-June, Monday to Friday: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and/or 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Week day secondary school double gyms are fully booked for the season.

Weekends: as requested

The On-line Booking system is closed for new 2011-2012 permits and will open for 2012-2013 new permits on July 3, 2012 at 8:00 am..
