Description of community agency/organization: Region of Peel, Health Services

What you will do:

Assist families in their homes in various ways. All clients on our caseload are referred to us by Public Health Nurses. These specific families are chosen as those who would highly benefit from the support of a volunteer. You would:

  • help a new mother with infant care, by providing an extra set of hands-- usually in a multiple birth situation
  • act as a mentor to children
  • assist with reading, writing, homework etc.

Skills required:

This opportunity is available for students 18 years and older.


We are looking for friendly, outgoing mature students with good communication skills, must be responsible and reliable. Maintain client confidentiality as outlined in the placement description contract.

Skills you will learn:

  • enhanced social skills
  • understand the responsibilities of being an efficient member of the Peel community
  • specific task oriented skills and training depending on type of placement

Length of time required:

Minimum of three hours a week for three months.

Location:

Volunteers have an opportunity to volunteer with clients in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga.
