Description of community agency/organization:

The Peel Multicultural Council was established in 1977 because of the concerns arising from a Social Planning Council report on immigrant needs in Peel. A group of ethnic leaders joined together to facilitate positive community relations.

What you will do: Students will have a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • assist with developing resource materials
  • update databases
  • assist with the planning of fundraising events
  • organize meetings with board members and committees
  • general office duties

Skills required:

  • basic computer skills
  • good understanding of the English language
  • team player
  • excellent interpersonal skills

What this volunteer position offers you:

  • administrative skills
  • an understanding of what is expected in a business environment

Length of time required:

Minimum of 40 hours
