Description of community agency/organization:
The City of Mississauga Safe Driving Committee is an advisory committee of the city council that deals with safe driving behaviour and related issues.
What you will do:
Under the supervision of adult participant(s) (volunteer(s) from the Parent Council Group affiliated with your school) your Student Speed Watch Program Team will use self-contained radar equipment with an electronic message board to monitor and chart the operating speed of vehicles travelling past your chosen project site. The display of this information provides awareness to the subject drivers and will provide useful information to the City's Traffic Operations staff, Peel Regional Police and the Safe Driving Committee, through completion of a Student Speed Watch project report form.
The completed Student Speed Watch forms will be submitted to the Traffic Operations division of Mississauga's Transportation and Works Department, and Peel Regional Police for their information. This information will become part of the Traffic Operations statistical data about Mississauga's roads.

Length of time required: one to two hours

How to get involved/How to apply:
1. Organize three to four students for your Student Speed Watch Team
2. Contact your Parent Council group / school principal for approval
3. Contact the Mississauga Safe Driving Committee co-ordinator for a Student Speed Watch Information Kit
4. Contact Traffic Operations to book the Student Speed Watch equipment
