Helping our neighbours campaign raises more than $67,000
Peel staff and students have raised $67,553.62 through the "Helping our neighbours" campaign to assist victims of the Sept. 11 tragedy.
"I congratulate our students and staff, who continue to show compassion and understanding to those in need," said Janet McDougald, chair of the board.

Pardeep Singh NagraPeel board changes policy on distribution of religious material
The board of trustees voted to discontinue the practice of allowing distribution of the New Testament by the Gideons International of Canada. The board will not allow the distribution of any religious or faith-related material at any Peel board site.
The board will continue its goal of faith inclusiveness by supporting school efforts that increase understanding and mutual respect of world religions.
Muslim community expresses appreciation to the Peel board
The Peel board has received a letter of appreciation on behalf of Muslim parents and children for the special efforts taken by principals and teachers following Sept. 11 to ensure the safety and security of children.
Schedule changes for legislated and standing committees
Effective Dec. 1, the board's standing and legislated committees will meet as follows:
Physical Planning and Building Committee-first Tuesday of each month during the school year from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Special Education Advisory Committee-third Tuesday of each month during the school year from 7:30 to 10 p.m.
Instructional Programs/Curriculum Committee-third Wednesday of each month during the school year, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The board approved the following vice-principal assignments and appointments, effective Jan. 7:
